By July I got tired of frying myself in the town so I headed for Viljandi Folk Music Festival (for the 5th time). 12 hours a day three days in a row reportage style shooting concerts in low light indoor, bright daylight or at night to shoot with Nikon D800 and Nikon V1 FT-1. You going to feel every rubber corner and every gram of your equipment at the end of the day. This time I felt something else too. I longed for more peaceful intimate moments. And fate kindly offered me some. So I stayed away from front rows and stage itself.
If you are the head of the biggest Folk Music Festival in Estonia you must be quite busy man during the event. Well, he still managed to appear almost incognito to enjoy the concert. I got a nice serie of conversation told in body language between man and woman hands in my pictures. For this I trusted myself in the hands of KODAK PORTRA 400 with trusty F100. When the film was developed I looked the pictures (compared same scene to digital) and knew, I am in love. In love of natural tonality, sharpness, softness and spatiality. Yet I knew it will be my secret love because not all share same feelings and the exitement of new digital cameras this year will be overwhelming.
I wasnt the only one who enjoyed concerts from safe distance. Also very well known people here, but It feels so good if Im not telling the whole story.
I also continued to use Portra 400 in studio alongside other cameras and of course enjoyed every frame. Kristiina is the woman with mesmerizing eyes yet again with film negative I managed to captured completely different side of her.
